Who We Are

Friends of KOOP Radio is composed of station volunteers and members who are alarmed by the actions of the Board of Trustees and who feel it is time to elect new station leadership. We represent the majority of the people who do the work of keeping the station going and who attend station meetings. (Not every member of Friends of KOOP may agree with everything on this website, but we are all agreed that it's time for a new station leadership.)

  • Our media contact is , (512) 792-5395.
  • Our steering committee is , , , , and kara@sheldon.com.
  • Our treasurers are and .
  • Our webmaster is Michael Bluejay.
  • The oversight committee (which the membership chose to replace the board of trustees if approved by a court) is Carol Texeira, Elaine Wolff, John Duncan, Kara Sheldon, Moses Gonzales, Neal Tuttrup, Ricardo Guerrero, and Tina Hardin. (Note: Although Elaine is critical of the board of trustees, she does not claim to be a member of Friends of KOOP.)
  • Our postal address is Friends of KOOP, PO Box 181152, Austin TX..78718-1152.

By the way, Community Board chair Eduardo Vera has repeatedly criticized Friends of KOOP for being a "nebulous" group and that "nobody knows who's in Friends of KOOP". In point fact, we've always been very open about who we are. Our very first mailing to the KOOP membership was signed by a long list of supporters (including most of those listed below), and this "Who We Are" page was one of the very first pages we added to this website when we started it. Another bizarre attack by Eduardo on our credibility.

Below is a partial list of KOOP people who support the effort to seek new station leadership. (Organizations named in parentheses are listed for identification purposes only; these organizations may or may not support the Friends of KOOP effort.) If you would like to add your name to this list, please contact Michael Bluejay.
